The USA’s first Public Beer Garden – Estabrook Park Beer Garden

Estabrook Beer Garden holds the distinction of being the first public beer garden in the USA since Prohibition and we are lucky enough to have it right here in Milwaukee. Located in the spacious Estabrook Park just north of downtown Milwaukee, the beer garden has plenty of seating and great views of the Milwaukee River.

Most weekends you’ll find live polka music and this beer garden gets pretty lively on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in the summer. They are also located along scenic walking trails and allow dogs, so stop on in while on a walk or when taking the family dog for a stroll. There is also a playground right next to the beer garden if you bring the kids!

The Estabrook Beer Garden serves up a few tasty food options, like a variety of sausages ($3-$6) and giant pretzels ($7). Patrons are also welcome to bring their own food in. Bring your own alcohol is not allowed however, since beer sales basically support the beer garden.

Hofbrau is the official beer, with light, dark, and seasonal options available by the half and full liter. Glasses are available on site with a $5 deposit. Wine and other beverages are also available. The beer garden is cash only, but don’t worry if you forget because there is an ATM on site.
